TTC #4: February 9th, 2019!

Join us for our 4th pitch competition at Hostelling International (HI USA NYC)!

Pitches will be made by the following orgs:

  1. Grouphug is creating a line of solar panels that attach to your apartment’s window to take your devices off the grid.

  2. Make It Black is a luxury dye and re-design service, using color theory to solve the environmental and economic crises of the fashion industry.

  3. Plia is the first closed loop, zero waste furniture company offering contemporary designed furniture that allows consumers to keep materials out of the waste stream.

  4. Pulpmade’s ‘Posse Chair’ is sustainable children’s furniture that sparks imagination and creativity - made from recycled paper and cardboard, paper pulp is non-toxic, lightweight, and soft–a great match for children.

$15 Early Bird tickets till 1/31

$20 tickets after 1/31 and $20 tickets sold at the door - CASH ONLY.

Snacks, wine and beer will be available, $5 suggested donation per drink (CASH ONLY).

TTC # 3: October 17th, 2017

Talk Trash City #3 will take place on October 17th, 2017, at Littlefield NYC in Gowanus. 

Pitch Competitors: 

  • AlgiKnit - creating biomaterials that can be used to make sustainable clothing.
  • Fixers Collective - promoting reuse through regular donation-based fixing events, where anyone can bring (almost) anything. 
  • RecycleUP - incentivizing people to recycle through their easy app and rewards system.
  • Spill-Res (or The Incredible Spill Resistant Cup) - using techniques borrowed from origami to create a better, compostable coffee cup that does not require a separate lid.

Expert Panel of Judges:

These experts have donated their valuable time to provide helpful and pointed questions after the presenters make their pitch.

Talk Trash City #2

Doors 6pm  |  Event 6:30pm  |  Ends 9:30pm

Trashy start-ups compete for a crowd-funded cash prize. Attendees vote on the pitch that best demonstrates its ability to help NYC reach zero waste to landfills by 2030.

By bringing people together to TALK TRASH, we hope to continue to build a community of individuals, organizations, and companies that are dedicated to developing environmentally responsible solutions to urban waste management.
